Using essential oils is a wonderful and natural way to repel bugs. I’ve put together a homemade fly spray that smells good, is a nice conditioner for the donkeys coat and is not harmful to them. Mix and match your oils to come up with one you like!

Keeping a safe natural home extends to the farm as well. If there is a way to do something without chemicals… I’m on it! We use natural products in our home (like this easy to make lip scrub) so why not on our animals.
Taking care of the livestock and making sure they are comfortable is key and when the weather warms up, the pests abound. This fly spray uses several different types of essential oils that repel, offend and are just plain disliked by flies… HURRAY!

- 3 quarts + 1 cup White Vinegar
- 2 tsp Peppermint Oil
- 2 tsp Lemongrass Oil
- 2 tsp Lavender Oil
- 2 tsp Eucalyptus Oil
- 2 tsp Rose Geranium Oil
- 1/2 tsp Tree Tree Oil
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon Bark Oil
- 1 1/2 cups Aloe
- 1/2 cups Oil
- 1 tbsp + 1 tsp dish soap

Mix all together and pour into a 1 gallon sprayer.
- 1 quart White Vinegar
- 1 tsp Dish Soap
- 1/2 tsp Peppermint Oil
- 1/2 tsp Lemongrass Oil
- 1/2 tsp Lavender Oil
- 1/2 tsp Eucalyptus Oil
- 1/2 tsp Rose Geranium Oil
- 1/8 tsp Tea Tree Oil
- 1/8 tsp Cinnamon Bark Oil
- 2 tbsp Grapeseed Oil

Mix all ingredients together and pour into sprayer.
