Victory Gardens. I always think of WWII and my Grams. She had a victory garden. Lately, those words have new meaning for me and I don’t mean just because of the weird times we are living in.
First vegetable garden tour. Can you believe it? I still can’t, but here we are!

Ya, me too. I was SUPER discouraged by the end of last years gardening season. I truly needed a victory if I was to move forward. Yes, we did have a great harvest but the garden was NOT what I had envisioned and I actually dreaded going to it. There was no contest. The weeds won and I had some hard thinking to do. Giving up wasn’t an option but I really felt unable to wrap my head around how to garden AND create an enjoyable environment. So what does any good homesteader do? ASK THEIR FRIENDS!!
So I hit up the 5 Dog Farm Facebook group and started asking questions. You know the real newbie, I know nothing stuff… cuz… I knew nothing:
- When do I start garlic
- What’s the best way to keep out weeds
- Mulch. Yes? No?
- How do I decide what to grow
And tons more. I didn’t ask all at once of course but as the next thought hit me I’d post my question and this wonderful group of gardeners helped me through. A BIG thank you to each and everyone of you. Please know that as you watch these videos, it’s because of you that I’ve made it this far. Otherwise it would’ve been Jurassic Garden Revisited and the sequel is always worse than the first!
Let’s get to the garden tour now! So happy you are here and thrilled to share our first success in the garden. Could this be my own “Victory” Garden? I do believe it’s true!
Did you have success with your first garden?
