And we know that Mr. Bluejeans holds that key. I adore Mr. Bluejeans. He’s the peanut butter to my strawberry jam. The bacon to my eggs, the ketchup to my french fries.
Great, now I’m hungry!
Where was I? Oh yes. My love of Mr. Bluejeans. Well folks, truth be told my eyes have strayed. Oh please don’t tell Mr. Bluejeans, he’ll find out soon enough.
I blame Pinterest. Bringing all those temptations directly to my fingertips. What’s a girl to do?
Let me explain, as you all know Mr. Bluejeans and I have just purchased our forever homestead. Right now the fur is flying as we are designing our driveway, workshop, storage area, barns, fences, ponds, systems… AGH!
No homestead can be designed in a day, week or month! It will take much thinking and plenty of redesigns for us to achieve all that we envision but we have to start someplace and the beginning seems like the perfect spot;) Where do things begin in a home? Why at the front door of course!
So I was just innocently diverting my attention from the oh so fascinating discussion of gravel types and sizes for the driveway *yawn* to pretty dutch doors. Makes sense right?!
I found much dutch door eye candy on Pinterest like this beauty.
Very subtle and since we’re leaning toward a grey color for our cabin, a nice fit.
Then there was this gorgeous blue door. I must say I love the idea of a pop of color!
How about something more traditional in a wood tone? Both of these are nice but I do prefer a window for my dutch door.
What self proclaimed homesteading woman hasn’t dreamed about what their abode should look like? [Note: I said should look like. I believe my cabin will lean towards functional but a girl can dream]. Truly there hasn’t been a time, when I envision my home, that a dutch door hasn’t been included. Ever. It’s always there… like ants at a picnic. Dutch doors just seem so inviting don’t you think?
Guess what? I think I found the winner! I love it. I homemade tacos love it. (ok I MUST be hungry).
This is the one kids. No doubt about it. I may even venture into this color? Or Tiffany blue. We’ll see. When we get closer I’ll ask you all for feedback.
Now, I’m a frugal gal. We need to save money for unexpected things like vet bills, tractor parts or if a giant case of cotton candy goes on sale (ya. I reeeeally like cotton candy). A light bulb clicked when I fell in love saw this photo. What if I found a used wood frame window to use as the top of the door, framed it a bit if need be and then ask Mr. Bluejeans to create the bottom portion?! BINGO!
Just think, if Mr. Bluejeans helps me build the dutch door of my dreams he can win back the #1 spot in my heart…. guess that means I will A•DOOR him again. *snort*
Oh my, ALL those Dutch doors are fab! I’d be happy with any one of them, but color-wise, I’d have to pick the turquoise. I love the blues!
I agree. Such a friendly color! Planning on being bold in my color choice this time around. Typically, I plan on a bold color then end up very bland. Not this time!
