Simple ingredients, such as bentonite clay and baking soda provide a gentle scrub. IF you’re unfamiliar with bentonite clay – It has the ability to bind and draw out toxins!
According to Dr.Axe:
Bentonite clay benefits your body in several key ways:
It helps to expel toxins and heavy metals.
It has antibacterial properties and fights off various pathogens responsible for disease, such as E. coli and the virus that causes staph infection.
It contains a range of nutrients. Bentonite clay is known to have an abundance of minerals, including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium.
Here is a step by step tutorial so you can see just how quick and easy this recipe is. I like to put it in a nice container and give as gifts with a recyclable wooden or bamboo toothbrush!
I use this tooth powder in conjunction with an herbal mouth wash rinse that I plan to film in the future. We use soft bristle compostable brushes in our home. No need to tear up your mouth with stiff hard bristles, the powder is what needs to do the job.

Do you make your own tooth powder?

Curious what the calcium magnesium does in the tooth powder? I found some on Amazon that has vitamin D and is used as a supplement.
Do you have a link for it?
Thanks
Thank you for your question. I have been on a blog break this year while we get our little hobby farm established. You may have already found your answers but incase you didnt:
Magnesium is needed for the structural development of teeth. Calcium is the primary building block for bones & teeth, PLUS we also need it for proper teeth remineralization. However, you need the right mineral combination. Vitamin D will absorb & direct calcium to its intended destination. So the combination you found on Amazon is a good one!
Hi Niki, I was browsing the internet for homemade toothpaste. Love your article and sharing your love for animals. My only concern is the ingredients Xylitol, which I know is harmful to animals.
Have a lovely day
You are correct and that’s why I did mention this in the video. We have a LOT of dogs & I am sure to never make this particular item when they are around. I’m allergic to cats so that one is easy :p
Thanks for stopping by!!
